Our Journey Behind 360 One Firm (361Firm)…
… has taken me far and wide around the world of family offices and the eco-system for private investing. 361Firm was born from hearing what family offices are looking for but have not found: a trusted way to access high quality deal flow and co-investment opportunities (to source or provide capital). We set out to create in 361Firm an organization that should exist “by and for” family offices. Throughout our history we have been at the forefront of understanding the value of global networks, now creating them for family offices around the world and delivering them in a highly personal and interactive way.
1990s
IMPORTANCE OF A GLOBAL NETWORK
During and since graduating from Denison in 1990 and the University of Michigan Law School in 1993, I have been fortunate to have mentors who showed me the value of fostering networks. My network provided the path from Ohio to Moscow where I joined PriceWaterhouse in a group that covered both legal services and Corporate Finance.
Later, as a Partner at Arthur Andersen, I experienced a culture that understood the value of its global network and embodied “One Firm” principles of global collaboration across service lines and borders. This enabled Andersen to land and execute complex and global mandates.
Early 2000s
SINGLE FAMILY OFFICE TENURE
In 2002, Andersen merged into Ernst & Young where I was a Partner in Transaction Advisory Services. After eight winters in Russia, I moved to New York where I was introduced to and then formed a partnership with a single family office.
With this family office, our model was to look at 100 deals, but our limited network allowed us to focus on only a handful. We would typically bring the deals to PE funds teed up for us to invest up to $20M with a “promote” for originating and/or taking a role in management or the Board.
If we had had a wider network of funds and family offices we could have completed more deals.
2005 - 2017
Alumni connecting to family office collaboration
In 2005 upon my return from Russia, my network at the time was largely tied to Europe. I tried to tap into my alumni networks but their events lacked the structure to allow me to connect with people whose interests I shared. This inspired me to found Denison Connecting!, an alumni platform. Denison Connecting! conferences feature interactive roundtables in which alumni introduce themselves and describe their “ASKs.”
Over 12 years, I hosted Denison Connecting! events in 20 cities around the world involving 3K alumni. The “by alumni for alumni” philosophy led to greater participation and better connections through shared experiences and interests, and uncovered synergies both professional and personal.
I later launched Michigan Connecting!, a network with 600K University of Michigan alumni (45K in New York alone). Participants join from a wide array of industries and asset classes.
Soon after, it became clear that the conference format would be beneficial for family offices.
2017-2019
Founding of 361Firm
Putting it all together, 361Firm fills a void in the market. We are a collaborative platform that offers access to deal flow and co-investors
361Firm uses the highly successful Roundtable approach at our events.
We embody the benefits of global networks and the “One Firm” value of active collaboration.
361Firm was partly catalyzed by our “Global Family Office Roundtable Tour” that spanned 35 cities around the world. This grew our platform for making proprietary investments in direct deals as well as with top-tier funds (Private Equity, Venture, Private Credit, Real Estate).
We are amid our third “World Tour,” that has spanned over 50 cities around the world. We host 361Firm Global Family Office Conferences and Roundtables in the spirit of widening and deepening our family office relationships and shed new lights across asset classes and interacting with top tier CIO and funds.
Now we are launching 361Family as a unique family office association that will take what 361Firm built to the next level. It will provides Members with access not only to 40 events per year in 15+ countries but also to (1) Global interest Groups by industry, asset class and geography) and (2) an active group of Strategic Advisors. Members must commit to principles of respectful participation.
To echo a theme at Denison’s inaugural Entrepreneurship Summit, building and nurturing a network can be your most important intangible asset.

Founder & CEO, 360 One Firm
361FIRM (360 One Firm) is a global platform for family offices to discuss the investment landscape across asset classes (VC, PE, Credit, RE, Public Markets) both through directs and via funds.
360 stems from our Roundtable approach to vetting and co-investing.
1Firm comes from Arthur Andersen's global "One Firm" principles.
