234th BRIEFING OCT. 1 “DRAHGI PLAN”
Last week we discussed the global economic landscape and emphasized Europe's challenges, including lagging productivity, high energy prices, and demographic cliffs. Draghi's $800 billion plan aims to address these issues by boosting digital innovation, energy infrastructure, and defense spending. Structural issues, such as limited fiscal pools and high debt-to-GDP ratios, hinder implementation. We also touched on the impact of AI regulation, climate change, and geopolitical implications of Europe's policies vis-à-vis China and the US. Podcast; Video recording

BOSTON ROUDNTABLES - OCT. 3
Boston Tech Deep Dive featured a diverse group discussing the Boston ecosystem. Key points included the strength of biotech and medtech sectors, with medtech having a higher hit rate than biotech. Concerns were raised about the city's risk-averse nature and the challenges in scaling fintech startups. The discussion highlighted the need for more liberal capital allocation and better integration of startups with large financial institutions. The conversation also touched on the potential for Boston to surpass Silicon Valley but noted the city's limited capacity to juggle multiple hotspots simultaneously.

361 PHILANTHROPY INITIATIVE WITH IMPACT LABS
As many of you know, philanthropy has always been a key pillar of the 361Firm community. For a while now, we have been researching ways to combine our approach to for-profit investment with our passion for social impact, and we are excited to announce our flagship 361Firm Philanthropy Fund. Here's how it is going to work: As a community, we are going to pick a cause to get behind. You can provide your input through this 361 Philanthropy Survey. The Impact Labs team will use their Impact Analysis Engine to design a philanthropy fund comprised of high-impact nonprofits that are addressing our cause from multiple angles. Their model evaluates nonprofits based on their breadth, depth, evidence, and timeline of impact, prioritizing real-world outcomes. We are going to leverage our networks to drive not only donations into the fund but strategic added value. We will receive detailed reports on where our donations are going, who they’re helping, and what we can do to increase our impact. Eventually, we will expand our scope to include for-profit opportunities in the space. This will include opportunities for strategic partnerships, impact investments, recruiting and networking, volunteering, and more. We are looking for passionate members of the 361 community to help us kickstart this new initiative. To get involved, please (1) fill out this brief 361 Philanthropy Survey about your philanthropic goals and interests and (2) join our Mobilization Call on Tuesday at 10:30am ET when we will have a special Breakout for this .

At the Oct. 10 NY Conference, Bill Deuchler rejoins us to co-present the interim results of our Survey 17: https://361firm.com/survey17. Survey 17 is a bit shorter, we are looking to 2025, and in addition to some of our traditional questions, we want to hear your thoughts on your public market allocation. As public equities and fixed income are consistently the asset classes with the largest allocation (in aggregate across the community), we added questions to aggregate thoughts in these areas. The presentation of results will again be anonymous. Please participate by Monday, Oct. 7.

Updates on 361Firm WhatsApp Groups: 361.pub/WApp
Per our LinkedIn post on this, before we re-launch our App, as we already have 1K+ in our WhatsApp Groups (600+ in the Main Group), here are some key principles to follow: Rule 1: These forums are here to teach, not pitch. Do NOT promote deals (for FINRA compliance), or really anything as it's bad etiquette. As such, share news or insights to help our community understand the investment and philanthropy landscape, or bona fide questions or ideas about our events or initiatives Rule 2: Keep fun "stuff" and references to non-361 events to the Social Group You can see the full list of 361 Chat Groups at https://361.pub/WApp.

361Firm's global community collaborates on investing and philanthropy, and has grown organically since 2015 to over 10,000 participants in 500+ events in 90+ cities in 20+ countries, and now online several times per week. Expanding from its historical core of single family offices, 361 now also includes institutional investors, fund managers, CXOs, and thought leaders. WHAT DOES 361FIRM DO? We focus on four areas: (1) Investing via Allocator Sessions and Surveys, to 361Core platform (co-creating funds, SPVs) (2) Raising Capital for funds and companies via our broker-dealer platform (www.361firm.com/onb); (3) Connecting Partners (business development) and Talent (CIOs, CXOs); and (4) Optimizing Philanthropy, interconnecting for synergies, NextGens and Impact HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED? > Subscribe to Weekly Events & Content: Briefings, Meetups, Digest, Recordings, Podcasts > Onboard as an Investor via our Diagnostic and join Allocator Sessions and Deal Calls > Join or Co-Create Events: Conferences, Deep Dives, Thursday Lunches > Onboard a Deal (Funds or Companies) at www.361firm.com/onb > Access Deals: No Name Excerpt, External Excerpt, and Full Access for 361Core Members > Onboard as a Strategic Advisor to offer talent or as a Banker to leverage relationships and deal access WHAT IS THE HISTORY OF 361FIRM? 361Firm was founded by Mark Sanor in 2015 after (a) 10 years with a single family office investing into and with funds and co-investing with other FOs and (b) 10 years as a lawyer and M&A Partner at Andersen and EY in Europe/Asia. “360” stems from hosting roundtables since 2005 when Mark moved back from Europe to New York, first for his alumni networks (Denison, U-Michigan, Leiden, INSEAD) and then family office circles. It also captures our approach to forming circles for not only events but also deals "One Firm" comes from the global collaborative culture of Andersen where Mark was a partner. Being global enables us to understand investment landscapes but also to collaborate cross-border.
