It was an honor for Sherry Witter (CIO of the Witter SFO) to make our event the first group event she has attended since COVID. We had over 30, several taking the train out from the city. After introductions, fun facts, and “quick wins” we asked for everyone’s “Best Idea” which led to a range of subjects. Several touched on healthcare (from mobile healthcare clinics to public equities with attractive multiples) and digital assets (DLTs, and even a specific company name in which Sherry is considering to invest).

Our next open lunch will be July 14, by default at L’Adresse (1065 6th Ave.) Our lunch on June 30 is a private session for Allocators or PCI (Principals, CIOs and Institutional) investors who submit our 9th Investor Survey (www.361firm.com/asset9) which will be a key part of the agenda alongside presentations on “Transformations” by ARS on trends and Pulak Sinha as to the asset management industry.

Israel punches above its per capita weight in VC unicorns. Why? On June 29 at 12pm ET (7pm Tel Aviv time), our Deep Dive on “Israel’s Innovation Ecosystem” features perspectives from funds to family offices and tech companies. Here’s a preview from Moshe Friedman of Amdocs, Israel’s largest software company.

Update. On July 19 in the morning we host a PCI Session and Breakfast Roundtables and later a rooftop reception at the newly refurbished Vanderbilt Hotel in Newport. We will also host other smaller events on the 18th at Gurney’s, the hotel where Opal is taking place. We decided to focus on a Boston event in October in conjunction with Nixon Peabody. On June 30 we host our next private session for PCI (Principals, CIOs and Institutional) investors on June 30 at 12-1:30pm in New York (500 5th Ave) and via Zoom (for part of the meeting). We have a special group including some CIOs of some rather large family offices and pension CIOs, which will make for enlightening discussions.

(2) Deals/Funds. Below is an excerpt from our no-name Shared Deal Pipeline of recently onboarded funds/deals. Upon onboarding a deal or fund, our team reviews them that often leads to “inbound” inquiries from the community which focuses us even more on certain entries. If we think a fund/deal might be compelling, we set up a Zoom to learn more and might discuss how we might act as a placement agent. We can send an MOU of basic terms. If agreed, we engage in due diligence in association with our broker-dealer Stonehaven. If we enter into a Mandate Agreement, we then can show it to suitable investors and can make use of our extensive network and 100+ bankers. (3) Ohio Projects. Given my history and Ohio’s unique programs including JobsOhio, if you might locate or expand to Ohio, our team can assist in coordination with Lt. Governor Jon Husted, JobsOhio CEO JP Nauseef and others. “Ohio Projects” can be small such as adding an office or outsourcing to an Ohio-based company or as large as Intel’s $20B chip plant near my hometown (for which Ohio provided ~$2B of incentives).
