Here are some takeaways from July 27 Deep Dive on "Cyber Market & Investing (Private & Public, Funds & Directs)" - and we welcome your takes on these issues as we seek to invest and make the world safer:
- Cyber 2.0 is being shaped by blockchain and AI interconnecting with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing (NLP) with Transformers.
- Disruption is amok on offense and defense
- Cybercrime cost estimated at $6T and growing
- 4M million cyber jobs are unfilled and growing
- High public cyber P/E multiples (e.g. 200-300x)
- Cases for early-stage investing with a favorable market and exit dynamics into funds with deep sector expertise
- Cyber requires a new private-public partnership, including national labs to move tech to adopters. R&D will be massive, but we need to fix the "Cybersecurity Valley of Death" to Series A
- Human aspect is far too underappreciated, particularly as we are in a guerilla Cyber World War
- U.S. is now playing "catch up"
