Why is inflation running hot? Will it be more persistent and transitory? What does it mean for monetary and fiscal policy and for the markets? Philanthropies Connecting! Just as 361Firm enables collaboration on investing by shared interests (asset classes, industries, regions, topics) and experiences (e.g. Alumni Connecting groups), we are also excited to be more systematic in doing this for our community as to philanthropic interests. We come close to this with our impact investment focus, but there are many gaps in society that only philanthropies can address. We ask our community to share more details on philanthropic interests so that we can collaborate better. Our “Future is Female" Deep Dive was an incredibly special watershed event. It already catalyzed an influx of funds and deals led by women, a key goal from our Impact conference. More on that below in our Calls to Action. First, thanks to our top-tier speakers: Susan Payne (Holistic Ag Investments Group), Aleksandra Gren (mBank), Gary A. Bolles (Singularity U), Valerie Hawley (PSUAD), Heather Henyon (Mindshift Capital), Simon Vine (Yesod Capital) and Denise Brouder (SWAYworkplace). TAKEAWAYS. Here are points summarized by Denise, and we welcome your input: “Female-founded companies performed 63% better than all-male founding teams (see reference links below); yet in 2020, female-founded companies received < 3% of all VC funding in the US. The disconnect is akin to "leaving money on the table" The falling US birth rate, the rate of advanced degrees secured by women and the labor pool now majority female; are all trends projected to continue meaning the future labor force will be predominantly and increasingly female. Yet 62% of managerial positions are held by men, 38% by women. Women’s labor force participation has stalled; we don’t have a supply issue, or a demand issue, we have a structural flaw in the system of work that causes women to "step back" or "step out" of the workforce The “broken rung” is the obstacle women face in the first step up to management. There are simply too few women to advance There is an economic imperative to treat gender equity and more women in business as if your survival depends on it; by instituting systematic change that connects women to opportunities Africa is a world leader in female entrepreneurs and women on boards; demonstrating the potential for emerging economies to leapfrog the traditional challenges for women in business

VIRUS UPDATE TAKEAWAYS: Daily Covid deaths coming down rapidly due to vaccination and “favorable phase” (between now and early September) - as Coronavirus is very seasonal.
